What is it that Recovery connections do to help people out of addiction?
We offer people residential rehab, detox and a chance to build their life up and go back into the community clean and sober.
What is your job with Recovery connections?
Rehab coach, I coach clients through the 12 step program and offer one to one support. I am training to be a Capacitar trainer which offers people a way of grounding themselves, meditate and cope with anxious times in their life.
What do you offer to people who are trapped in an addiction?
Support from someone who has been there and has come from one addict helping another. A chance to rebuild their life.
What is the process of beating an addiction?
Identifying that you have a problem and want to work to overcome addiction, seeking advice and support from services and mutual aid and working on yourself through the 12 steps or other recovery pathways. Continue contact with other people in recovery, being of service and giving back what was given to you.
If you could give anyone any advice on why they should quit an addiction, what would it be?
Not having to use and be a productive member of society as long as you don’t continue using substances you can achieve anything.
Addiction affects so many people but has it ever affected you to help those people struggling with Substance misuse?
Yeah, I’m in recovery myself I’m nearly four years clean, and currently working the 12 step program which helps those who have a desire to get clean. I quit being a chef to work with recovery and help others, I did it because I found it really rewarding.
What’s your favourite program activity with Recovery connections and how does it help people?
The 12 step residential rehab living the steps and teaching them.
Working for Recovery connections and with people who are in need of help and support, kind of makes you a super hero, what superhero power do you possess?
The ability to have empathy and encourage others to get clean.
